Mayweather Goes Back to Basics in Training for Manny Pacquiao
Mayweather appears to have taken inspiration from Sylvester Stallone’s
training routine in Rocky IV as he prepares for the May 2 super-fight
with his Filipino rival.
The undefeated American has posted a video on his Instagram account of him chopping wood, similar to Stallone’s fictional character Rocky Balboa in the fourth film.
Heavyweight legend Muhammad Ali was also famously photographed swinging an axe during training as he prepared for his rematch with Joe Frazer in 1974.
Pacquiao, meanwhile, drew large crowds in Los Angeles in an open-air work out in the city’s Griffith Park.
The eight-division champion posted of picture of him surrounded by fans as he exercised and uploaded a video of him back in the gym working a heavy bag with flurry of punches.
“Day 12 of gym work out, getting there of the target 50 to 60% condition for the month of March. Thank you Lord for everything,” he wrote.
