BAG gets busy for Commonwealth Mixed Team and Junior Olympic qualifiers

Ahead of a busy schedule of qualifiers for the 2018 Commonwealth Games Mixed Team and the
Youth Olympic Games, the Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG) has invited 16 national senior and junior players to camp in Cape Coast on Saturday, 17th June, 2017.
Team Badminton will participate in tournaments in Cote D’Ivoire, Benin, Nigeria and Mauritius
in the next three months to achieve their objectives.
The team which is made up of 7 senior and 9 junior players is set to take part in the Ivory Coast
Junior International Series from 23-25 June and Senior International competitions from 29th June to 2nd July, 2017 respectively.
The busy international schedule will see the national team in action at the Benin International
2017 from 6th- 9th July, before making the journey to Nigeria for the Lagos International 2017
from 26th-29th July.
In addition, the junior national team will take part in the Mauritius Junior International 2017 -
Junior Future Series, Rose Hill from 11th-13th August, before embarking on a trip to the
Badminton Juniors World Cup in Indonesia in October, which also serves as a qualifier for the
2018 Youth Olympic Games.
Whiles in Cape Coast, the team will be taken through their paces by coaches, Frank Shamo and
Ocansey Ahumah with a clear focus on building up their stamina for the upcoming
competitions.
According to the BAG, the players were selected based on the aggregate of players-points in
games played last year at the national badminton championships while also taking into
consideration the financial resources of the association.
