Swag in crucial talks with sports Minister
Executives of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) met the Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Mustapha Ahmed as well as directors of the ministry to brainstorm on how best to develop and promote sports in the country.
Among the issues raised by SWAG led by Kwabena Yeboah was the Sports bill,the poor state of sports facilities in Ghana,funding of sports,government/MOYS and Media relationship among others were discussed.
Dr. Ahmed commended SWAG for being vibrant saying the association is very important and relevant not only to the sports fraternity but the society as a whole. He revealed that several measures are being taken to repair damages on all sports facilities in the country, build sports halls at the sports stadiums,have a museum for sports heroes and also empower the National Sports Authority to generate more revenue. The minister revealed that the Sports Bill has been worked on and about to be laid before cabinet from where Parliament will have it to be passed into law.
The SWAG executives had earlier in the day met the boss of the National Sports Authority(NSA) to discuss issues affecting sports and media in Ghana.
