BREAKING: Ghana Black Sharks granted 48 hours deadline extension
The Ghana national beach soccer team Black Sharks, have been granted an
extension to allow them participate in the Durban 2015 Elite trophy in
South Africa. Ghana have given until Thursday 26th February to submit
their final squad, flight itinerary and other relevant information to
tournament organisers of the eight team competition. Amir Garranah of
the Competitions department of Beach Soccer Worldwide in Barcelona
Spain, has advised the management of the Black Sharks to atleast get the
team to the competition next week where they will get some level of
assistance. As it stands, all participating teams are expected to cover
their inbound travel expenses and that makes it almost impossible for
Ghana to be given any special treatment. ln a new development, it is
reported that leading travel and tourism agency African Origin, has been
approached by the gbsa to bail out the team. With no funds reportedly
available at the Ministry of Youth & Sports and the GFA, only the
direct intervention from Flagstaff house can save the Black Stars trip
to South Africa. With $20,000 dollars promised by CAL Bank which is the
entire sponsorship package for one year, the team of 15 players and 5
officials still needs no less than $32,000 dollars to make the trip. The
Minister of Youth & Sports, the Chief Director at the Sports
Ministry and the GFA President are all currently in Saudi Arabia on an
official state visit.
